Kanguva Movie Review
The much-awaited film of South cinema, Kanguva, released in theatres recently. Starring Surya, Disha Patani and Bobby Deol, the film created a lot of curiosity with its trailer and teaser. The audience had a lot of expectations from this film full of reincarnation, mythology and action. But did the film live up to the expectations? Let’s know about this film in detail.
Contents
First half
The first half of the film tests the patience of the audience. Despite such a strong concept, the film overemphasizes forced comedy and light-hearted moments, which not only seem ineffective but cause irritation.
Famous comedian Yogi Babu’s acting also fails to save this forced comedy. His appearance is not used properly, and his comedy feels mostly artificial.
Disha Patani’s character is also disappointing. She has been restricted to showing only glamour, and the lack of depth in her role is glaring. His entry and presentation looks like old films, which is not new to the audience. It is very disappointing to see that the lead actress has been introduced only as a decoration in such a big budget film.
Second half
The film’s story picks up a bit in the second half, but still it is unable to handle the film completely. The characters shout their dialogues so loudly that it becomes a tiring experience for the audience. Also, the background music is so loud that sometimes even the dialogues are not heard.
Suriya has played his role well, especially in the flashback sequences. But even his brilliant acting can’t handle the disorganized story of the film. At the same time, Bobby Deol’s character is presented as a big villain, but his character does not look scary or impressive.
Vision and Direction
Blended Experience The biggest feature of Kanguva is its visual effects. Some of the VFX sequences are superb and add to the grandeur of the film. But in terms of story and direction, the film falls short. Cinematography is good, but the camera work fails to lift the level of the story.
The biggest complaint about Disha Patani’s character is that no scenes were written for her that could give strength to the story. Her character only revolves around glamour. If the criterion of acting was only looks, then perhaps this film would have been in his favour.
The film’s conclusion
Not living up to the expectations, Kanguva had everything that an epic film needs, but it underperformed. The film tried to balance mythology, action and humour, but the attempt failed. Suriya’s excellent acting and some flashback scenes are the life of the film, but these are also covered by the weak screenplay of the film.
Rating: 2/5 stars
If you like reincarnation and action-packed mass masala films, this film might be for you. But if you’re expecting depth and a compelling story, this film might disappoint you.
What’s the final thought?
The second part of the film has already been announced. It will be interesting to see how the director rectifies these flaws in the next part.
Let’s hope we see something better in the sequel. Have you seen a kangaroo? Be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
